Ark Community Church
Brief: Create artwork for display which brings colour to the space whilst reflecting the church's values.
Ark Community Church is a fast-growing, modern church based in Sutton Coldfield. They are extremely passionate about community and strive to make their space as welcoming and inclusive as possible for all.
The church building had recently undergone renovation to expand the space and with this now completed, they were now looking for artists to brighten the space and further inspire their attendees.
As part of the process, I started by meeting up with the pastor to view the space, listen to his ideas, ask questions and generally get a better understanding of the church as a whole - its stories, missions and values.
I eventually broke these down into three key themes which reflected the values he spoke of - Joy, Unity and Love.
The pastor also emphasised the act of celebration in worship, music is incredibly important in their services, which is what influenced my choice to use dancers across the final illustrations.
