Ozzy the Bull

Over the past year, I've been focused on a collection that highlights Birmingham's most iconic landmarks and architecture. A key piece from this series is my latest interpretation of "Ozzy," who made his debut during the 2022 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.

In creating this artwork, my aim was to capture the essence of Birmingham in a single image. I started with a collage that blends natural and manmade imagery from magazines, reflecting the city’s diverse spaces and landscape. Using acrylic paint and pens, I recreated the distinctive circular patterns from the Birmingham Library’s façade, subtly weaving them throughout the piece. Afterward, I scanned the final painting and used Procreate to seamlessly integrate these elements, adding further details and colour to shape the iconic bull. As a long-standing symbol of Birmingham, I felt the bull serves as the perfect centrepiece to unite this piece.
